The Robot Who Collected Beautiful Things in a World Full of Garbage

WALL-E was released by Pixar in 2008 as one of the most visually ambitious and emotionally precise films in the studio's history. Set seven hundred years in the future on an abandoned, garbage-covered Earth, it follows WALL-E — Waste Allocation Load Lifter: Earth-Class — a small trash-compacting robot who has been faithfully cleaning up the planet alone for centuries, and who has developed, along the way, a profound sense of curiosity, wonder, and longing. He collects beautiful things. He watches Hello Dolly on a battered VHS player. He names a pet cockroach. Then EVE arrives — a sleek white reconnaissance probe — and WALL-E finds himself in space, in an adventure he never planned, and in something that feels remarkably like love. The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2009. Michael Giacchino's score won Best Original Score. It is one of the warmest films ever made about loneliness.

Hallmark's WALL-E ornament collection spans 2008 to 2025 — the same year as the film's release through the present day — and each entry captures a different element of the character's world. The 2008 "Deck the Planet!" by Steve Goslin arrived in The Henry Ford's collection immediately, the ornament selling out early in its first season. The 2012 EVE Special Edition was a limited release at the Keepsake Ornament Debut event. The 2015 Pixar Legends #5 is the collection's most emotionally precise entry: WALL-E holding a tiny seedling, described in Hallmark's own copy as "a gesture of sincerity and hope for a better future." The 2022 WALL-E holds a solar panel, recharging his own power. The 2023 15th Anniversary has WALL-E and EVE holding hands — artist Nello Williams, optional light through EVE's back, the central image of a film about two robots finding something worth more than a clean planet. And the 2025 "A WALL-E Joll-E Holiday" is the pun that was waiting seventeen years to be made.

  The 2015 Pixar Legends #5 (QX9007) is the one to press for visitors. The Magic Sound ornament plays WALL-E's voice when you press the button — a tiny robot sound from a tiny robot ornament, 2½ inches tall, holding a seedling. It is a self-contained argument for why Hallmark Keepsake ornaments exist: something small, something precise, something that makes a sound and holds a symbol and costs less than a nice dinner.   The 2023 WALL-E & EVE 15th Anniversary is the one to light up. Insert a miniature light string bulb through the rubber grommet on EVE's back and EVE lights up — which is the entire emotional arc of the film in miniature. WALL-E holds her hand. EVE glows.   The 2012 EVE Special Edition (QXE3004) is the collection's rarest entry. A limited edition first available at the 2012 Keepsake Ornament Debut event — not a regular retail release but an event-first drop, produced in limited quantities. "Eve doesn't even need the bulb to light up Wall-E's world!" At 3⅛" tall, EVE stands as the tallest ornament in the WALL-E collection.

The Steve Goslin 2008 founding entry was recognized by The Henry Ford as a culturally significant artifact within months of its release, and sold out early its first season. It is where the Hallmark WALL-E story begins — and the ornament that confirms WALL-E's immediate and lasting cultural significance.
