Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched for Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020 — two weeks after the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic. The timing was, for many players, transformative: a game about arriving on a deserted island, building a community, growing things, talking to neighbors, and finding small pleasures in each day arrived exactly when people most needed a world that operated at a gentle, forgiving pace. By the end of 2020, New Horizons had sold over 31 million copies, making it one of the best-selling Switch games in history. Players who came to it during lockdown speak about it with a particular warmth — not just as a game they played but as a world they lived in for a period when their own world had contracted.
Hallmark's Animal Crossing collection began in 2021 — the year after New Horizons launched — and has grown one character at a time. Isabelle, the cheerful Shih Tzu who serves as Town Hall secretary, appeared in both 2021 and 2023; her cable-knit cardigan and jingle bell hair band make her one of the most recognizable figures in the franchise. Celeste arrived in 2024 — Blathers' younger sister, the owl who appears at night to help players wish on shooting stars. Timmy and Tommy, the identical raccoon twins who run Nook's Cranny, joined the collection in 2025. Tom Nook himself — the benevolent tanuki who started everyone's island adventure — remains the one character the collection hasn't yet reached.

Emma Leturgez-Smith — The Artist of the Island
Emma Leturgez-Smith is confirmed as the sculptor on the 2023 Isabelle and 2024 Celeste — both listed on the Nintendo official store and Hallmark's own product pages. The Animal Crossing Keepsake collection belongs to a specific lineage of gaming ornaments where the artist's job is to translate the deliberately simplified, rounded visual language of Nintendo character design into a three-dimensional sculpted object. Isabelle's cable-knit cardigan texture, Celeste's star-gazing pose, the jingle bells on Isabelle's hair band — these are details that require understanding both the character's game appearance and how it translates into Keepsake scale and material. 01Display the 2021 and 2023 Isabelle ornaments together — same character, two years, two slightly different portraits. The 2021 Isabelle (2HCM9366) is a standard Hallmark ornament rather than a Keepsake, slightly smaller at 1.5" × 2.75" × 2.25". The 2023 Isabelle (QXI6317) is a Keepsake with more detailed sculpting — cable-knit cardigan texture, sculpted jingle bells on the hair band. Side by side, the two Isabelles show the evolution of the collection's commitment to the character across two years.

02The 2024 Celeste is the collection's most thematically fitting ornament for a Christmas tree. Celeste's entire purpose in Animal Crossing is stargazing — she appears at night to help players make wishes on shooting stars. A Christmas tree covered in lights, with Celeste pointing at the sky from a branch, is the ornament in its correct context: a character who watches stars, among star-shaped lights, in December. Display her near the top of the tree where the lights are densest.

03The 2025 Timmy and Tommy bring Nook's Cranny to the tree. Timmy and Tommy are the retail heart of Animal Crossing — the twin raccoon shopkeepers who greet every player at Nook's Cranny with cheerful enthusiasm. As a two-character ornament, they are the collection's first entry to feature a duo rather than a solo character, and they bring the commercial warmth of the in-game store to the Christmas tree. Tom Nook has not yet arrived. The shop is always open.
