Prep &
Landing
Three Hallmark ornaments for Disney ABC's beloved Christmas special — the elves who prepare houses for Santa's arrival the same way a SWAT team prepares a landing zone. Wayne and Lanny in 2010 — the jaded veteran and his eager rookie. Operation Rooftop Prep in 2011. Elf Brothers Wayne and Noel in 2012 — from the sequel where Wayne's brother Noel works for the Naughty List Division. All systems go.

The veteran — 227 years in Santa's Prep & Landing division, his Christmas spirit worn thin by routine. Nearly lets Timmy's house slip. Stars in all three ornaments. The heart of the series.
The eager rookie assigned to Wayne. Handles the clipboard, monitors the landing zone, has all the Christmas spirit Wayne has lost. His enthusiasm saves Christmas — and Wayne. Stars in the 2010 and 2011 ornaments.
Wayne's younger brother, introduced in the 2011 sequel Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice. Works for the Naughty List Division. The rivalry between brothers gives the sequel its central conflict. Appears in the 2012 "Elf Brothers" ornament.
The Elite Elf Unit That Prepares Every House for Santa
Prep & Landing premiered on ABC on December 8, 2009 — a 22-minute Disney animated special directed by Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton, produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The premise is a Christmas action-comedy: Santa's North Pole operation has an elite advance team called Prep & Landing — E.L.F.S., Elves Launching Festive Situations — who deploy to each house before Santa arrives, verifying chimneys, setting landing lights, ensuring everything is ready. Wayne is a 227-year veteran of the division who expected this year to be his promotion to Christmas Coordinator but instead gets assigned a new rookie partner named Lanny. Wayne's bitterness and neglect nearly results in Timmy's house being skipped by Santa entirely. Lanny's earnestness and quick thinking saves the operation. Wayne rediscovers his Christmas spirit. The special won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program in 2010.
The sequel, Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice, aired on ABC on December 5, 2011 — introducing Wayne's brother Noel, who works for the rival Naughty List Division. The conflict between the two divisions, and the two brothers, drives the second special. Hallmark's three ornaments cover both specials: the 2010 Wayne & Lanny ornament represents the original, the 2011 "Operation Rooftop Prep" captures the action of the operation itself, and the 2012 "Elf Brothers" by Anita Marra Rogers brings Wayne and Noel together from the sequel — the two brothers, two different divisions, one ornament.
"These two elves are on a mission to get Timmy's house ready for Santa's visit. Whether Wayne slacks off and so Santa initially doesn't come to Tim's house. Soon Wayne and Lanny find out how important your job is and scrambled to get Santa to come back to Timmy's house to save Christmas."

Tips for the Collection
-
01Display all three as the complete Prep & Landing story — founding special to sequel. The three ornaments cover the arc of both Disney ABC specials: Wayne and Lanny together in 2010 (the original partnership), the operation itself in 2011 (the mission in action), and Wayne with his brother Noel in 2012 (the sequel's family conflict). In order they tell the complete story of the Prep & Landing universe across three Christmas seasons.
-
02The 2012 "Elf Brothers" by Anita Marra Rogers is the rarest of the three. The 2012 Wayne and Noel entry ties to the 2011 sequel special, which aired only once before the franchise went quiet. For collectors who know the sequel and the sibling rivalry between the Prep & Landing division and the Naughty List Division, the "Elf Brothers" entry is the most specific and most sought-after piece in the collection.
-
03The specials are available to watch if you want the full context before displaying the ornaments. Prep & Landing (2009) and Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice (2011) are both available on Disney+. If you are gifting these ornaments to someone who has not seen the specials, the specials make the ornaments significantly more meaningful. Wayne's 227-year career, Lanny's clipboard, the landing lights, the rooftop operation — all of it lands differently once you know the story.
