A Whole New World — From Agrabah to the Tree

Disney's Aladdin was released in November 1992 — the third film of the Disney Renaissance, following The Little Mermaid (1989) and Beauty and the Beast (1991). Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, it features the voice of Robin Williams as the Genie in what remains one of the most celebrated vocal performances in animation history. The story follows Aladdin, a street rat in the fictional city of Agrabah, who discovers a magic lamp, falls in love with Princess Jasmine — who wants freedom from the palace as much as he wants freedom from poverty — and faces the scheming sorcerer Jafar. The songs "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me" both won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in the same year (a tie). The magic carpet — the flying rug that takes Aladdin and Jasmine above the clouds — is the film's central romantic image, the vehicle for one of the most recognizable duet sequences in animated cinema.

Hallmark's Aladdin collection spans 1997 to 2025 and returns repeatedly to that carpet. The 1997 founding entry by Anita Marra Rogers shows Jasmine and Aladdin on a romantic night ride at 2.5 inches tall. The 2017 25th Anniversary ornament plays "A Whole New World" at the press of a button — Aladdin and Jasmine flying above Agrabah on the carpet. The 2025 entry is titled "Jasmine's Magic Carpet Ride." The collection's ongoing fascination with the carpet is, simply, correct: it is what the film is remembered for. The 2023 collection also produced the most unusual entry — a Jafar Limited Edition, available only at the 2023 Keepsake Ornament Premiere, the villain stepping into the Hallmark catalog for the first time.

  Press the button on the 2017 25th Anniversary ornament every December. The Magic Sound ornament plays "A Whole New World" at the press of a button. One LR44 battery. The song won the Academy Award in 1993. Press it when the tree is decorated, press it when guests arrive, press it when you want to hear the song that makes the film's central image — Aladdin and Jasmine above the clouds on the carpet — feel exactly as large as it did in 1992. It works every time.

  The 2023 Jafar Limited Edition is the collection's rarest entry — if you see it, get it. Available first as a Premiere Exclusive at the 2023 Keepsake Ornament Premiere event, the Jafar Limited Edition was produced in limited quantities and is the only villain entry in the entire Aladdin Hallmark collection. For anyone building the complete Agrabah cast on the tree — Aladdin, Jasmine, Rajah, and now Jafar — the 2023 Premiere Exclusive is the hardest piece to add.

  The 2024 Jasmine and Rajah is Jasmine's most fully realized solo portrait in the collection. Artist Simone Mariano's 2024 entry shows Jasmine in her iconic turquoise outfit and tiara, holding Rajah — the tiger cub whose fierceness is matched only by his loyalty to Jasmine. The 1.68 × 4.15 × 1.35 dimensions make it notably tall and narrow, Jasmine's full height in turquoise. Display it where the vertical dimension reads clearly.
