Twelve Months, Twelve Holidays, Twelve Disney Friends

In 2014, Hallmark launched a distinctly ambitious Disney project: a twelve-ornament monthly series that would assign a Disney character to every major holiday and seasonal moment in the calendar year. Each month released a new ornament celebrating that time of year — the series launched with Minnie Has a Ball! (#1) in summer, moved through Back to School with the Chipmunks (#2), Halloween with Bewitching Daisy (#3), Thanksgiving with a Thankful Donald (#4), Christmas with Santa's Happy Helper (#5), and New Year's with Mickey (#6). The series continued into 2015 with Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Spring, Summer, Graduation, and Independence Day — Goofy the Graduate (#11) in a cap and gown being one of the series' most delightful images, and Yankee Doodle Mickey (#12) closing the calendar with a patriotic flourish.

The twelve-ornament series is the most systematically conceived Disney Keepsake project Hallmark has produced: a complete year of holidays, each matched to a specific Disney character who makes interpretive sense for that holiday. Donald for Thanksgiving (grumpy and grateful simultaneously, as is tradition). Daisy for Halloween (Bewitching, naturally). Mickey for New Year's (the face of every Disney beginning). Goofy for graduation (the most relatable academic outcome). The series works because the character-holiday matchmaking is both logical and charming.

The Name Continues — Mickey & Friends, Year by Year

In 2020 — five years after the monthly series concluded — Hallmark returned to the "A Year of Disney Magic" name with a different format: a single annual ornament, released once per year, featuring Mickey Mouse and the gang in a new holiday scene each December. The 2020 through 2025 entries are individual keepsakes rather than numbered series members, each capturing Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and the friends in a distinct seasonal design for that year.

The annual format lets each entry stand on its own — 2025's Mickey leaning against the year in glittering snow, 2024's festive scene, 2023's Mickey design, each one a collectible snapshot of that year's Disney holiday spirit. For collectors, the 2020–2025 run creates a six-year photo album of Mickey's Christmases. For anyone who already has the 2014–2015 monthly twelve, the annual entries extend the Disney Magic collection across a full decade. Eighteen ornaments total.
