✦ The Edythe Kegrize Connection — The 12 Little Days of Christmas miniature sets were created by Edythe Kegrize and Jim Kemme in 2016 — the same year Kegrize was producing the full-size Twelve Days series #6 (Six Geese A-Laying) in the beloved blue/purple/green/cream palette she had been building since 2011. The 12 Little Days miniatures share their design DNA but use gold and white porcelain rather than the main series colors — companion pieces to the full-size series, in a smaller, more delicate format. ✦
The Collection
All Twelve Gifts at Once — In Miniature, in Gold
The 12 Little Days of Christmas sets were released in 2016 as a Hallmark Gold Crown Exclusive — available only at Gold Crown retailers rather than through the standard Keepsake distribution. Unlike the full-size Twelve Days of Christmas series (which took twelve years to complete, one gift per year from 2011 to 2022), the 12 Little Days collection delivers the complete song in a single season: four boxes of three ornaments each, containing all twelve gifts simultaneously. Buy all four sets in 2016 and the complete song is on the tree in December 2016. No waiting. No annual installments. The partridge and the turtle doves and the drummers all at once.
Each ornament is porcelain, approximately 1.125" × 1.75" × 0.875" — just over an inch tall, the scale of a small figurine or a large coin. The color palette is gold and white throughout, giving the collection a unified elegance that reads as a complete set when all twelve ornaments are displayed together. The full-size Kegrize series uses blue, purple, green, and cream — rich, vibrant, individually distinctive colors that vary year to year. The miniature series uses gold and white — a single unified palette that makes the twelve ornaments visually cohesive in a way the full-size series, by design, is not. A coordinating display tree was also available in 2016 to hold all twelve miniatures together as a standalone collection outside the main tree.

Each 12 Little Days ornament is approximately 1.25 inches tall — roughly the height of a large coin standing on its edge. At that scale, the partridge in a pear tree, the turtle doves, and the three French hens are individually identifiable but genuinely tiny — smaller than many Christmas ornament hooks. These are miniatures in the most literal sense: twelve distinct ornaments in twelve distinct subjects, each one under 1.25 inches high, rendered in porcelain with gold and white detailing. Display them where the scale can be appreciated — close to eye level, on a display tree, or on a mantel where visitors can pick them up and examine them.

01Buy all four sets — the song is only complete with all twelve ornaments. The 12 Little Days of Christmas collection is designed as a complete set of four boxes. Buying only Days 1–3 gives you three miniature ornaments. Buying all four gives you twelve — the complete song, in order, in porcelain, in gold and white. The four sets together are the collection; individual sets are fragments of it.

02Display all twelve on a dedicated miniature tree rather than on the main Christmas tree. A coordinating display tree was available in 2016 specifically to hold all twelve 12 Little Days ornaments. At 1.25 inches tall each, these ornaments are too small to read as anything other than tiny specks on a full-size Christmas tree. On a tabletop miniature tree — or on a dedicated branch at eye level — they are exquisite. The gold and white palette is most effective as a cohesive group.

03The 12 Little Days sets complement the full-size Edythe Kegrize Twelve Days series beautifully. The full-size series (2011–2022) uses blue, purple, green, and cream. The miniature sets use gold and white. The two palettes are distinct but complementary — displaying one set from the full-size series alongside the corresponding three miniatures makes the scale difference and the palette contrast a feature rather than a mismatch. The Partridge in a Pear Tree exists in both formats: 3¾" in blue and cream (2011), and ~1.25" in gold and white (2016).
